Type 08 FFL: Importer of Firearms

If your business brings firearms or ammunition into the United States for sale, the Type 08 is the importer license you need. It covers firearms and ammunition other than destructive devices, subject to import approval. A Class 1 SOT extends that scope to National Firearms Act items.

What a Type 08 FFL is

The Type 08 lets you import firearms and ammunition other than destructive devices and deal in what you import. Importing is separate from manufacturing and dealing. If your business brings firearms in from outside the United States, you need this license rather than a Type 01 or Type 07.

Import permits and approval
